Buying a UTV For Hunting
Hunting is an exciting and potentially profitable pastime, but bringing a UTV on your next trip might make it even better. We here at Montana Honda & Marine want to help you get the most from your adventures, so we’ve put together some tips for getting the right UTV for hunting, below. Why a UTV?
UTVs may not seem fit for hunting at first glance, but with the right one you can:
- Store more supplies
- Carry game out of the woods
- Scout the hunting grounds
The Right Features
You’ll need a few specific features on your UTV, some of which may or may not have to be aftermarket upgrades:
- A gun scabbard to safely store your gun
- A winch to get the UTV unstuck or move game to a better spot
- A dedicated GPS that won’t drain your cell battery
Keep It Quiet
One of the hurdles of hunting with a UTV is the engine sound and potentially bright colors. The latter can be taken care of with a matte camo paint job, but the former might need some care. First, make sure the UTV is in good condition since damaged or worn components can cause more noise. Second, remove or secure loose metal to avoid rattling. Third, add soundproofing materials like rubber and exhaust system upgrades to dampen the remaining noise.
